Please note: Animal Services pays the expense of conducting a background check on each adult volunteer. Due to this expense, we ask that each new adult volunteer make a minimum 50 hour/six month commitment to actively volunteer at the shelter. If you are not able to make that commitment, we ask that you do not proceed with the application process at this time.

Beginning training

Please note: Most of the adoptable dogs at Osceola County Animal Services are large breed animals. This is because the animals that we have on site are either strays or surrendered by community members. These dogs tend to be strong and often times lack training when the arrive at the shelter so they may be challenging to walk.

If you do not feel comfortable with walking strong, large breed dogs, please do not do so.
